My poor blog has been sorely neglected the past month. I could blame work/sport/life for this, or I could instead hope to distract you from the fact with a funny video.
I'm opting for the latter.

Went and saw Streetlight Manifesto on Friday night. It was good fun. I even managed some footage, but it all turned out ordinary.
During Suspect Seven's slot, which is the main reason I took a camera, I couldn't work out how to operate the damn thing (I'm a camera virgin with this particular model). By the time I did they were a good quarter of the way through their set. In the end I managed maybe one or two decent quality clips of Suspect, while I was too busy skanking and singing and just appreciating the awesome that is Streetlight to remember I had a camera. By the time I did, finding a decent spot to film from was nigh on impossible.
So, here's some poor quality footage from the side of the stage (mostly images of a speaker stack, sadly) of the almighty Streetlight. Songs be A Moment of Violence (partial) and Linoleum (NOFX cover).
Enjoy.

We lost our 14th straight game of indoor soccer last night.
That's right, fourteen straight games. We went an entire season last quarter without winning a single match, and now we've lost our first two matches of the new season to keep the streak alive. A dubious honour, to be sure, and one that's starting to take its toll. Andy's on the verge of boiling over, so fed up is he with continually losing. I blew up last night, storming out after another loss, only to be forced to return for my wallet and eventually sub for a random team.
But (there's always a but...), Andy and I hung around last night to watch a few matches and were surprised to find that we share a division with some truly fucking ordinary sides. We watched four sides last night that had female members, and we stand a fair chance of securing a win against each. I don't mean to imply that chicks suck at sports or anything, it's just that these particular chicks, well... do.
So, here's hoping our fortunes are about to change next week. It'll be nice to post a win for once, if only to alleviate some of the frustration building within the team. If we don't manage a win soon I have no doubt tempers will flare and we'll all end up doing or saying things we regret.

That's right, holidays are over. Sydney was... Sydney. Not a lot's changed in 10 years, and yet so much is different. The important things are still the same though.

Friday is here - yes, on Wednesday - and at its conclusion I shall begin my holidays. Off to Sydney come Saturday (the real one, not tomorrow), and won't be back for a week or so.
Some food for thought while I'm gone:
It seems the universal opinion of Heroes: Volume Three is one of disappointment. I wonder how much of that stems from the Writer's Strike and being forced to wait so fucking long? Y'know, expectations building over time and all.
Personally, I fall in to the disappointed column. Some of the character motivations in the first two episodes left me scratching my head, while the third episode was too reminiscent of much of Volume Two (in that it was rather yawn-inducing). I think massive doses of Hiro (and Ando!) are the only things that can save the show from a rapid decline.
